Airmen’s Association Members,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family and friends. I hope each of you have time to enjoy the holiday season and reflect on some of the good from 2021 before moving into the start of 2022.
It has been a fun 2021 for us at the Alaska Airmen’s Association. We are well on our way with the build of the 2022 Raffle Cub. Our team had the opportunity to head to Yakima, Washington to begin the build of the FX-3 Carbon Cub last month. We were fortunate to have our staff, as well as local teachers from around Anchorage join us in the build. We are very excited to see the finished product and will make the trip back to Washington in a couple months to complete the build, test fly the airplane, and finalize the documents before flying it north to Alaska.
While reflecting on 2021, I am thankful for the steps that have been made to continue to grow the Alaska Airmen’s Association in a positive and effective manner. Our scholarship program continues to flourish, and it is encouraging to see the number of scholarships increase so that we can train the next generation of aviators, mechanics, controllers, and aviation related professions. Membership continues to be a focus while we build Next Gen as well as how we can add value for both our current and new members alike.
As we look to 2022, we remain focused on our advocacy in aviation in the state of Alaska. We want to continue to be a trusted and reliable source of information as well as an advocate for the safety of aviation in Alaska.
Lastly, I want to thank each of you for your membership in 2021 as well as the support you’ve shown the organization. We look to continue to enhance the membership experience and it is exciting to see what we have in store for 2022.
Here’s to a great start of the new year!
Happy flying and stay safe,
Stephen Ratcliff, Board President, Alaska Airmen's Association
